Disability Independence Day is Coming

Saturday, July 26, marks the 7th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

It's a great time to have a celebration -- and take time to rededicate ourselves to demand, cajole, push, picket, protest, and holler for compliance and enforcement of this law. Whatever it takes.

People with disabilities will be whooping it up from New York to San Diego and all sorts of places in between. So what are you doing in your town?

This is a worthy occasion to celebrate. And it is also great practice for the year 2000 -- the 10th anniversary of ADA as well as the beginning of a new milenium. Plans for the 10th anniversary are already under way, led by Initiative 2000 in Atlanta. For information about the plans, contact Paul Timmons (presslord@aol.com).

Meanwhile, let us know what your town is up to for this year's Disability Independence Day. Spread the word.
